Field Notes

  • Male: Upperparts glossy green.
  • White underparts.
  • White area extends behind and over eye.
  • White flanks extend to side of rump.
  • Tiny bill Forked tail.
  • Female duller than male.
  • Juveniles are dull brown above and might have trace of a gray breast band.

Similar Species

The Tree Swallow is more blue and lacks the white around the eye.
